Haiti Economic Research & Development
HERD has travelled to Gallet Chambon, Haiti on four separate trips; May 2015, July 2015, December 2015, and May 2016. The group conducted research on the economic climate and culture and concurrently facilitated educational programs to teach basic business concepts and the steps in building a business plan. Emphasizing the socio-economic environment of Haiti, the team taught concepts and skills in the areas of entrepreneurship, finance, computer applications, marketing, and operations management. They also focused on critical thinking and problem-solving skills and developing personal relationships with the Haitian entrepreneurs.
Specific business skills were taught to the Haitians in their environment for the purpose of positioning them to form and run start-up businesses in rural Haiti. The Haitian students advanced intellectually in the classroom environment with the purpose of application of the knowledge to improve the social condition of their people.
